Process Piping for Data Centers

Data centers demand precision, reliability, and uninterrupted performance. At LongHorn Industrial Contractors, we provide specialized process piping services in Utah for mission-critical facilities, delivering the mechanical infrastructure that supports today’s high-performance data centers. As an experienced data center piping contractor, we self-perform fabrication, welding, installation, and testing for complex cooling and process piping systems throughout Utah and the Mountain West.

Whether you’re building a new hyperscale facility, expanding an enterprise data center, or upgrading liquid cooling infrastructure, our team delivers process piping for data centers that is engineered for performance, code compliance, and long-term reliability.

Data Center Mechanical & Process Piping

LongHorn is a licensed Utah General Building Contractor (DOPL B100, S410) that self-performs industrial mechanical and process piping for data centers across the Mountain West. From chilled water and condenser water loops to the liquid cooling infrastructure driving today’s AI and high-density workloads, we fabricate and install the carbon steel and stainless-steel piping systems that keep your most valuable assets online.

Built for the Liquid Cooling Era

As rack densities climb and facilities shift from air to liquid cooling, the piping behind your cooling systems has never mattered more. LongHorn builds the mechanical backbone that moves heat away from the rack.

Our process piping for data centers includes:

Chilled water and condenser water piping
Process cooling loops and distribution piping
Coolant distribution unit (CDU) piping and manifolds
Liquid cooling infrastructure — direct-to-chip, rear-door heat exchangers, and immersion systems
Prefabricated cooling skids and modular pipe assemblies

Our industrial piping for data centers is designed to meet aggressive project schedules while maintaining the highest standards for quality and performance.

Shop Fabrication + On-Site Installation

LongHorn’s two-part delivery model is built for the aggressive schedules data centers demand: we fabricate in the shop, then install in the field.
In-Shop Fabrication

We prefabricate in a controlled shop environment, where we build:

Pipe spools — pre-assembled, pre-welded sections of pipe, cut and welded to your isometrics and ready to set in the field
Pipe assemblies — larger multi-spool and multi-component assemblies, including headers, manifolds, and racked piping
Skids — complete, skid-mounted mechanical and process packages built and tested in the shop, delivered as a single set-and-connect unit

Shop fabrication means better weld quality, tighter tolerances, cleaner stainless work, and parallel production while site work continues. Everything arrives ready to set, cutting field labor and compressing your commissioning timeline. This is a core strength of ours — we’re highly capable of fabricating complex carbon steel and stainless steel spools, assemblies, and skids at volume.

On-Site Installation

Our field crews set, connect, and tie in the fabricated spools, assemblies, and skids on your data center site — joining cooling loops, equipment, and distribution piping with the same certified welders and code compliance that govern our shop work. Because we self-perform both the fabrication and the piping installation, quality and accountability carry straight through from shop to field.

What We Self-Perform

We are a self-performing contractor. Our crews — not layered subcontractors — do the work, which means tighter quality control, accountability, and schedule certainty on your site.

Certified Welders. Code-Compliant Piping.

Quality is welded into every joint. Our welders are certified and experienced in ASME Section IX — the national welding qualification standard for piping and pressure systems — producing high-integrity welds in both carbon steel and stainless steel. That experience covers the full range of piping we install for data center cooling and process systems, and it applies equally to our in-shop fabrication and our on-site installation work.

Our welds are performed and inspected to the industry codes that govern data center piping:

ASME Section IX — welder and welding qualification for piping and pressure systems (carbon steel and stainless steel)
ASME B31.1 — Power Piping
ASME B31.3 — Process Piping
AWS D1.1 — Structural Steel Welding

Every piping system we install is fabricated and tested to the applicable code.

Independent Qualified Inspection

For nondestructive examination (NDE), LongHorn works with a qualified third-party NDE partner. Independent inspection — including radiographic and other nondestructive testing methods — gives owners and general contractors verifiable, unbiased assurance that every weld meets code.
